A Look at My To Read List

This might be more for me than my readers but I thought I’d share which books I have up and coming here at My Friends Are Fiction. I  (like everyone) am trying to be more organized and keep ahead with my posts. Fingers crossed that I can keep up this motivation and momentum. We are already half way through January and I haven’t made that big a dent in my reading list (only read 3 books so far–Fire & Flood, The Goddess Test and The Unbound). I would like to be able to read the following before the end of the month. Not sure that will be possible.

January To Reads:

Already Released:

 Scarlet (Scarlet #1)The Shadow Society

I am close to being finished with Scarlet and have loved it so much. Thank you to everyone that told me how wonderful this book is.

ARCs

Lady Thief (Scarlet, #2)White Space (Dark Passages, #1)ArchetypeDangerous

I’m half way through Dangerous and I think I like it but am holding opinions until I see how Hale finishes the story.

Unless I get a lot more time to read I think it’s safe to say I won’t get to all of these by the end of the month. White Space might be moved to February.

I’ve only ever read Hale’s Book of a Thousand Days–which I really enjoyed. I’ve not heard that much about White Space yet. I hope I enjoy it. Have you read it?

Still going to try to tackle White Space huh? I’m intrigued with how it goes, along with Dangerous. I passed on requesting that one since I wasn’t sure >.>

Lady thief looks awesome! I can’t wait to see what yyou think of it.

On a side note, my fingers are so cold that I misspelled almost every word in that comment. lol I decided to leave the double y’s so you could see my fingers chattering haha

I still need to read White Space, it is also in my list of upcoming reads! I have a few scheduled posts for Jan, so I’m hoping I’ll manage to get enough scheduled posts for my vacay time in Feb!

A friend DNF’d White Space after only 30 pages or so because of the writing and somewhat confusing plot, but I loved Bick’s Ashes trilogy and I can’t imagine the writing’s all that different, so I’m still pretty excited to get to this one. It probably won’t be anytime soon, though. So glad you are reading the Scarlet books. They are new favorites of mine, for sure. I have The Shadow Society on my shelf, too, and after TWC, I’m seriously hoping to make time for it soon. Good luck getting through all of these! And I can’t wait to see what you think!

yep, I know someone (possible same person) that DNFed White Space very early on. Sometimes that’s all it takes to know that a book just isn’t for you. Maybe we’ll like it? I’ve not read the Ashes series so this will be my intro to her.

I HAVE to read Shadow Society since my love for TWC runs so deep. I know I’ll love it. I hope I can make the time to really get a lot of reading done these last two weeks.

I’m actually reading White Space right now. (On page 411 out of 560. Yeah, waiting for February might be a good call.) It’s been really strange and brain bending, but in a good way I think. There are definitely parts that could be shortened, though; I hope they cut some of it for the final version.

Hrm, brain bending and strange. Not sure about this one but I’m intrigued to see how it hits me. I love that you say, “but in a good way I think.” haha. I’m thinking this book must be very strange indeed.

I have White Space on my list too I LOVED Drowning Instinct by her but I DNFed another so we’ll see how this one does. I read The Shadow Society a while back it’s a pretty good one! 🙂

Good! I can’t wait to get into The Shadow Society…I loved TWC and so I imagine I’ll love this as well. Fingers crossed we both enjoy White Space

I’ve been curious about Scarlet and The Shadow Society for sooooooo long! I’m really glad you’re enjoying Scarlet, and I’ve heard amazing things about Lady Thief. White Space is one I am holding off on downloading… at least until I hear more from people! It sounds like it could be amazing, but I know a LOT of people really didn’t like it… I’ll be interested to hear what you think, whenever you read it!

You must read Scarlet NOW! I really enjoyed it…fast paced, great characters and I love that it’s a Robin Hood retelling. I downloaded White Space without knowing much about it at all. It was an impulse download so I hope it doesn’t backfire on me.

Dooo it! Let me know all your thoughts and feels please! I know…my TBR pile is growing and growing. I must have fed it after midnight again (does that Gremlin’s reference make sense?)

Thank you Carina. I requested LT on NetGalley–I’d love to have had the physical arc. Love the cover so much. I’m about 16% in and it’s very good so far.

HAVE YOU STARTED LADY THIEF YET?
I need you to tweet me when you do. ESPECIALLY towards the end. Because reasons. You will know them soon enough.
As for The Shadow Society, I liked that one. I didn’t really love it, but I am definitely in the minority about that opinion. I can admit there are some really cool ideas and the writing is good.

I’ve never even heard of Archetype but that looks super interesting!
I have White Space too! I am a tad nervous because of some things I have heard, but it’s also Ilsa J. Bick. If it’s bad, how bad can SHE really be, you know?

I ramble! But awesome books and I hope you love them all. Happy reading!

I just finished Lady Thief last night–kept me up too late because I couldn’t put it down. I had to know how it would resolve. I’m not far into The Shadow Society but so far I’m liking it. Seems that it has some typical ya tropes but the writing is so good it doesn’t matter (only like 60 pages in though).

I started White Space tonight and boy is it weird so far. I’m confused as to what is going on but maybe it’ll make more sense the further I get.

Hi Kristen! Out of the bunch, I’m only familiar with the Scarlet series; I haven’t had the chance to start it yet, but I know there’s a lot of love for it. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts once you’ve read the sequel! I hope you accomplish your reading goal for the month, and of course, that you enjoy yourself along the way. Remember, don’t stress yourself out. Reading for pleasure should be just that –pleasurable! 🙂

thank you Marlene! I read Scarlet and Lady Thief and have started White Space (which is super weird so far). I think it’s nice to have the goal but I won’t beat myself up if I don’t accomplish it. More a reminder to me what to read than a must do list 🙂 I totally agree…we read for fun and pleasure.

I’m reading The Shadow Society now and am enjoying it but I will say that The Winner’s Curse is a stronger story and novel imo. I hope when you read it you love it.

I’m mid-way through Dangerous and feel a tad unsure of where things are going. We shall see.
