Favorites of 2014

I figure I have to share my favorite reads of this last year. A few 2014 books, that are obviously missing from this list, made my favorites of 2013. You can find them here.

As with anytime I’m making a list I feel like I’m forgetting a couple really wonderful ones but this gives you an idea.

Favorite 2014 Published Reads:

Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth, Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay, The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey, The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson and The Falconer by Elizabeth May

Sadly, I felt that 2014 in general was sort of a let down in my blogging and personal life. I feel incredibly optimistic about 2015–I hope to maintain motivation for blogging and work on more interesting content. Here’s to a bright and shiny new year.

Favorite 2015 Reads (that I read in 2014):

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabba Tahir, The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh and Every Word by Ellie Marney

Let me just tell you from what I’ve read from 2015 so far the books are absolutely stellar. It looks like it’ll be a huge year in fantasy and I can’t wait to read them ALL. Side note- Every Word (sequel to Every Breath) hasn’t released in the US yet but you can order the UK/Australian version.

What were your favorites of 2014?

I can’t wait to read Bitter Greens for my challenge this year. I ordered Princess of Thorns yesterday and now I’m really excited to get started 😀 I loved The girl with all the gifts and The falconer. I’m so freaking excited for A court of thorns and roses & I also want to read The winner’s crime and An ember in the ashes. Good to know you loved them so much 🙂

I got The Girl with all the Gifts in a SS exchange and I am so exicited to start it–I’m so happy to see it on your faves of 2014 list! Yeah, 2014 was rather disappointing in a few areas but I think it’s best to look at all the highlights 🙂

    Happy New Year, Kristen! <33

2014 was a lazy reading year for me – well, at least the last quarter of the year. But I know 2015 is going to be one heck of a year! I have SO MANY 2015 releases that I am itching to read, like ACOTAR and AEITA on your list!

Happy New Year to you! 😀

I’m hoping this year will be a lazy year in reading…or at least a laid back year. I want to take my time with my reading and enjoy them all 🙂 Happy New Year to you!!!

I loved Bitter Greens. I feel like it flew under the radar a little bit and I wish it got a little more attention because it was so good! My top read of the year!

I’m also really excited for An Ember in the Ashes and The Wrath and the Dawn. They both sound really good and I’m glad you liked them!

I’m so happy to hear you loved Bitter Greens too! It was an amazing read and now I must read ALL Kate’s books. I agree it flew under the radar. I want more people to love it.

Oh gosh, Ember and Wrath are glorious reads. I can’t wait for everyone to read them.

I’m reading ACOTAR right now and… OMG!! This isn’t even my usual genre (I’m a contemporary reader, mostly) but man, this is addicting!! I still have to read The Winner’s Curse too. I’ve heard others say The Winner’s Crime is amazing and even better than book 1. I’m proud of myself for branching off into the unknown world of fantasy… and so far it’s pretty darn rewarding!! 🙂 Great post!

2014 was NOT a kind year to us, but I’m sure 2015 will be amazing!!

I’m so excited for so many of the 2015 books you’ve read and loved and I have them all preordered! Or in Every Word’s case, I’ll be buying along with book 3 in March, as soon as my book ban is over!!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR KRISTEN!!

Thanks for sharing, Kristen! I loved Princess of Thorns too, and I’m definitely going to catch up on The Falconer this year. Every Word – YES. I’m terrified to read The Winner’s Crime, though. I may have to wait until book 3 is released lol.
