My May To Be Read Pile + Link Your TBR Post!

It’s May (or rather BEA month –I’ll  not be there but it’s still BEA Month)! I need a fresh new start since I’ve been feeling a bit bogged down with posting and reviewing. I know that last year I felt about the same at this point in the year and I took BEA week off. I might do that again–I haven’t decided just yet. I’m hoping I can get energized and excited about new blog post ideas but we’ll see.

My May TBR

MayTBRSome of My Planned Blog Posts

  • Interview (and giveaway) with Renee Ahdieh author of The Wrath & the Dawn (!) I’m so excited to share this with you!
  • Hopefully some Lego Cover art. I have a couple started but have felt lacking of artistic ability this last couple of months.
  • Review of End of Days by Susan Ee

I’m participating in the #monthofmaybookchallenge on Instagram

Happy BEA month! I’m not able to go but are you attending?

I’d love for you to link to your own reading list for May!

I really hope The Novice is amazing. I’ve heard some mixed things so I’m a tiny bit nervous. Rook is amazing so far! Go get it!

I’m not going *sobs* I need to change my post text since it leads people to think I’m going! Oops! I wish I were going? Does that count!

I’m also planning to read The Cost of All Things. I absolutely love magical realism so I think this will be a big hit for me. I was planning to read Rook last month, but I never got to it. Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze it in sometime in May.

I really hope we both love TCoAT. The cover really didn’t grab me but I do love the summary. Hopefully I can read it sooner than later. I am almost done with Rook and have really loved it. It’s a bit slower paced but highly enjoyable.

    Kristen!!!
You simply MUST carry on informing and entertaining us with your fabulous blogs!!

I don’t know what I’d do without your fantastic recommendations!
But I KNOW life would be a much sadder place without your fabulous…DELISH Lego covers!!!
So when u feel the well running dry, just remember us poor souls out here waiting to see what we need to read next!!
Not going to BEA this year, but next year it comes less than a month after my debut, so I HOPE I get to go for that!

Aww! thank you so much Janet! that means so much to me <3 That’s so exciting that your debut will release about this time next year! I already have it on my TBR wishlist :-)

Thank you Pili! I hope I get that creative urge again. Lately I’ve been in a spring cleaning mood. I hope you enjoyed the Renee interview. I love her so much. Rook was great!

  4. says

Great books! I’m thinking of putting Rook on my TBR. I love the The Game of Love and Death cover, hope it;s awesome!
A fresh start is always nice! Hope you have a wonderful May!

I cannot WAIT for your interview with Renee Ahdieh. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT BOOK. *flails copiously* And that’s quite a gorgeous TBR you have there. xD I always wish I knew what I was going to read early on, but, gah, mostly it’s whatever takes my whim at the library. Or whatever unsolicited arcs I get. BUT AHHH I’VE HEARD SUCH GOOD THINGS ABOUT 5 TO 1!!

    • says

IT IS SO GOOD CAIT! I’ve not heard a whole lot about 5 to 1 but I love the cover and summary. Can’t wait to dive in. Have a great month!

  6. says

I definitely need you to read Eternal City asap!!! I want to know how that one is!!! I need to read Novice and Cost of All Things also so let me know when you are starting those!!!

    • says

I have it on the pile by my bed so sooner than later. I started Cost of All Things and really interesting so far. I’m a tad nervous about The Novice.

    • says

*sobs that we both won’t be at BEA* I loved Sharon’s debut duology! SO GOOD. I’m so happy she’s getting more attention with this latest book.

  7. says

Novice is in my TBR pile as well!! I’m really excited for Rook, The Cost of All Things and 5 to 1. You have a great stack for the minth!

  8. says

Definitely going to read the Novice and Pip Bartlett and possibly Rook and Game of Love and Death and Courtof Thorn and Roses…and Hexed and oh drafts hopefully I’ll get to read about 20 books I can’t decide on all of them because I have to go whatever I’m in the mood for which lately is fantasy and urban fantasy and Victorian UF. Enjoy!

I will try to be at some of BEA. It’s the end of the school year and everything is crazy, but this may be my last BEA before it moves to Chicago, so I want to try to stop by when I can. Taking a week off is a great idea. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately too!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen at YA Romantics

I hope the time you have at BEA is amazing! I always seem to be overwhelmed at this time of year. I hope you can feel caught up. Do you think you’ll try to go to the Chicago BEA?

  10. says

My list is ridiculously organised! I like lists… I am bad at keeping to them… so I end up making them ever more complex. We’ll have to see how it goes, haha.

    • says

I just take a picture and pretend to follow it! haha. Does anyone actually accomplish their lists? I love that you make complex lists. Have you done a post about your process? I’d love to see.

Such great books this month! I really want to read The Game of Love and Death but I’m not sure if I will be able to because May is quite a busy reading month for me. I can’t wait to hear what you think of Rook. It’s a long book but I enjoyed it in the end.

    Happy reading!

    • says

I really enjoyed Rook thought it did run a tad long imo. I think it could have been cut a little here and there. Overall, still really wonderful. I am really excited about TGoLaD! Have a great May!

Happy May Kristen. <3 And aw, I'm so sorry you won't get to go to BEA :( I want to go so badly. Sigh. One of my wishes. Hopefully someday :) Anyway. I do hope you'll have an awesome month, even so :D And yay for lots of pretty books to read. <3 I really enjoyed Rook a whole lot. And I really hated The Novice, lol. Best of luck sweetie :D Happy reading Kristen. <3

I am scared to read The Novice. I guess I’ll give it a go and see what happens. I finished Rook ad did like it! I love Sharon Cameron’s writing style. Did you read her prior two books? One day we’ll both go to BEA (maybe? haha)

  13. says

I do hope you manage some more lego cover art this month! It has been a while and I always get a kick out of your posts, even if I am one of the silent blog readers out there.

    • says

Thank you Lili! It means so much to me that you commented :-) And it really has been a while since I posted a Lego cover. I need to carve out some time to finish up the one I’m working on.

Your TBR pile looks awesome! I think you might like 5 to 1, I thought it was a good book overall – Dreamfire was kind of slow though, awesome world building though. Happy reading :)
