Stacking the Shelves

This last week started off to be so incredibly sad with the passing of Robin Williams. I have always been a fan of his movies and his death hit me really hard. I was shocked and saddened to my core. Then all the other stuff in the news…just a pretty depressing week.

My personal life is going great though and summer is starting to wrap up. I absolutely love fall and I there is evidence of it coming sooner than later. I even saw some fall floral at my local Target. My kiddo starts school in a week! I can’t believe it. I’m nervous but I know he’s going to really love it so I’m excited more than anything.

I purchased the domain to a new site I’m going to be doing- My Friends Are Minifigures. I’m sure you can guess, it’ll be a Lego blog. I’ve done absolutely nothing besides get the domain but eventually I plan to.

This last week I got some great books…like flail and pass out type great books. I can’t wait to get started reading them. I’ll be buddy reading The Young Elites with Jon from Scott Reads It and we’ll startΒ tomorrow. So excited!!

Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review.

Won- from The Midnight Garden. Thank you so much!!

Look at that pile of books and The Young Elites is signed. I can’t believe I won the Midnight Garden’sΒ ALA giveaway–I still can’t believe it even with the books on my shelf.

For Review (from HarperTeen):

Β ExquisiteCaptive

For Review (from Hachette):

VoM

Yay books! I had requested Exquisite Captive but not Vampires of Manhattan. I’d honestly not even heard of it or read The Blue Bloods series. I have started it (about 70 pages in) and it’s okay so far. I feel like I’m missing a lot having not read the Blue Bloods since it seems to be taking place in a world after that series.

How was your last week?

I know! I can’t wait to read them all…I actually don’t know anything about Ashes to Ashes. I need to read up on it and I think it’s a sequel?

All of those are on the top of my TBR! You’re so lucky. And yes, you are missing a lot not having read the Blue Bloods series. Sorry, there’s a lot of backstory. πŸ™ Enjoy your haul!

Yep, there is so much referenced to that series in VoM I’m sort of lost. Not sure the book will be as good to me having not read the prior books πŸ™

Nice haul this week. I have Vampires of Manhattan to review as well, but didn’t realize it’s a new series that’s a follow up to a previous series. Haven’t read or heard of the Blue Bloods series either, I hope I won’t be too lost when I tackle this one, because I’m actually really looking forward to it.

It seems like it’ll be ok reading it with no prior knowledge but I do think that those that read the past series will feel more for the characters because it seems like some are making a reappearance. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it.

Congrats on the new site! And OMG back to school. don’t remind me O_O I move in on the 27th.

I also have a copy of The Young Elites! I hear it’s dark and sexy πŸ˜€ I’m excited about that. I LOVED This Shattered World! I really enjoyed These Broken Stars, but then, This Shattered World was even better! And I want to have a review up for Exquisite Captive soon… soon… like you said on my blog, so many books, such little time!

Thanks for visiting my blog, Kristen!!

Dark and sexy is exactly what I want right now πŸ™‚ I’ve started it and love it so far but I’m having to read other books as well. So excited about This Shattered World!

YESSSS! Congrats to my fellow Midnight Garden giveaway winner! =D It’s so damned funny that we both got the parcel delivered on the same day!
And those books are flail worthy for sure!! I’m so dying to get my hands on This Shattered World!!
I’m very excited of your upcoming Lego-dedicated website!

Awesome haul! You are so lucky! πŸ˜€
I definitely recommend reading the Blue Bloods series! It’s like a paranormal Gossip Girl- but better. It also brings in a very unique and different aspect to vampire fiction.
I can’t wait to read The Young Elites! If it’s as good as I’ve heard it is, I’m going to be in book heaven lol
    Happy reading!

I enjoyed Vampires of Manhattan for the most part but I know I missed a lot having not read Blue Bloods. I don’t know if I’ll get around to them any time soon but I am more interested now.

Wow, you got some great books! I’m so excited to read The Young Elites! And my kids start school next week too – this will be the first year all three are in school of some kind (my youngest will be in Pre-k) so I’m not sure I’ll know what to do with myself! Happy reading!

Seriously going to miss Robin Williams…he reminded me so much of my own father. πŸ™

Congrats on the win from The Midnight Garden…such lovely ladies and so generous! πŸ™‚ I also got The Young Elite this week and will be starting it very soon. So excited for it after loving the Legend series so much. I have a copy of Exquisite Captive to read and review myself, but I’ve heard iffy things. I loved her debut Something Real, so that makes me sad, but maybe I’ll have a different experience.

Hope you enjoy all your new reads!

I cant’ believe how generous they are to give this stack of books away. So awesome! I wouldn’t have gotten TYE otherwise so I’m so thankful. I hope we love EC–I want it to be wonderful.

*Hugs* <3 It was sad news, yes. Sniffs. But yay for starting a new lego blog πŸ˜€ I cannot wait for you to "open" it, hih. So excited πŸ™‚ And ack. So many amazing books sweetie. <3 Beyond jealous of them all, lol. Dying to read The Young Elites πŸ˜€ Cannot wait to see what you think of it. I really hope you love it πŸ™‚

I started The Young Elites and am enjoying it so far. I wish I could dedicate more time to it but that pile of Sept and Oct books keeps staring at me. I’ve got to make progress on them so I’m only sneaking in little bits of TYE πŸ™

Crap, I was planning to read Vampires of Manhattan without reading Bluebloods…. I don’t think I’ll be able to read Bluebloods though so maybe I’ll just dive in and try to figure it out *sigh* why do they do this to me?????

    • says

Yep, I finished VoM and it was entertaining but you will feel that you are missing stuff having not read BB. It is still a fun read and fast paced though.

    • says

Oh gosh! I had intended to take a picture with my mini-figure avatar and send it to you. I completely forgot with my kiddo starting pre-k! I absolutely adore the books and find myself petting them often πŸ™‚
