Stacking the Shelves

For the most part we had beautiful, spring weather this last week. I’ve loved seeing the sun again and it’s made me feel happier and more productive (on all things not blog related). I did a fair amount of reading this week- The Cage, The Fearless and Nightbird. I’ve started Crimson Bound which I’m loving it so much!

Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review.

For Review (some solicited and some not):

 StS327 StS2327

All the epic Harper books. I’d not heard of The Cost of All Things, Dust to Dust, Vanished or Omega City before receiving them. Dust to Dust is a sequel so it’ll probably go for giveaway. I read The Cage and am on Crimson Bound now. I’m half way into Illusionarium (though a tad disappointed by it).

I sort of took a bit of a hiatus with the blog this week. I had zero motivation to post and felt much happier reading…so that’s what I did.

How was your week?

EEK!!! So many books!! Harper has so many awesome books, doesn’t it? Hehe.

Hope you enjoy Crimson Bound! I plan on reading it next month and hope to love it!

Enjoy ze books and love them and read them and just… hug them or something! They’re are beautiful!

I just love the look of your blog!! Haven’t read any of those books, but I should really finally get started on Cruel Beauty. I absolutely love the cover tom Crimson Bound and I’m really tempted to go get it even though I haven’t read the first novel haha

Thank you Jen!! You just made my day 🙂 I actually want to reread Cruel Beauty at some point. I enjoyed it but think a reread might have me appreciate it even more. The covers of both books are so beautiful. From what I can tell they aren’t a series so you could read either one.

I hadn’t heard of it either Grace! And it’s by Diana. I’ll give it a go and hope it’s awesome. It’s MG so that does explain why I’d not heard of it. Do you read MG much?

I read the first chapter of Challenger Deep (trying to decide if I wanted to read it or not) and WHOA it’s intense! I can’t wait to get to that one. Crimson Bound, sadly, wasn’t as good for me as Cruel Beauty was but I still hope you love it! I am so, SO excited to read The Cost of All Things – first, it has a beautiful cover, and also because I need more magical realism in my life.

Lucky you on the nice weather! We had 60 degree weather not two days ago, but it’s snowing now!

Go away SNOW! One benefit to Texas…no snow really ever.

I’ve read further in CB and I’m not loving it as much. I thought the prologue was so strong but now it’s good but not fantastic.

I read a few chapters of Challenger Deep and it is so intense and beautifully written! I think it’ll be excellent. I’d not heard of The Cost of All Things but the summary has made me excited and magical realism is used entirely too little.

I didn’t even know I needed a break! haha. I was in a great reading mood and felt completely immersed in what I read which was great. Of course now I’m feeling the blog a bit more but not as much in a reading mood. Apparently I can’t do both?

Oooh, I requested a copy of Challenger Deep. So excited to see if it meets my expectations 🙂 I’m so annoyed by getting sequels for review, especially if the author/publisher doesn’t send the first books in the series. Looks like you got a good haul. Can’t wait to hear what you think of them 🙂

I typically just put them up for a giveaway if no friends want them. Does get pricey to mail them though. I’m really excited about Challenger Deep. From what I’ve see it is supposedly to be very good and emotional. I look forward to reading it. I hope you get a copy soon!

I wasn’t a big fan of Cruel Beauty, but did it as an audiobook so I’m not completely sure it was the book or more about the awful narration. I’m going to assume it was the narration and go into Crimson Bound with no prejudices!

I wasn’t a huge fan of it either. I liked it but didn’t feel love for the story or characters. I am hoping I enjoy CB more. I’ve still never attempted an audio book.

OOOoh nice!! Cannot wait to read Crimson Bound! Or The Cage! Or Dust to Dust! LOL! I still need to read Ashes to Ashes though! Fell soooo behind on my books…not sure how that happened. Heehee!

    Happy Reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

We all are behind on books! I think that’s the norm for us book worms. I really know nothing about Ashes to Ashes or Dust to Dust. I read The Cage and now am on CB. My reviews will be up sooner than later.

Maybe it’s just me? I think my expectations threw me off. I had read her prior novel and I honestly wanted more romance. So it might be me and not the book.

Eeek, such gorgeous books this week Kristen. <3 I really hope you'll love all of them 😀 So excited about The Cage. <3 It's so gorgeous. Sigh. And yay for having a great week 🙂 I hope you'll have an amazing upcoming week and easter sweetie. <3 Happy reading too 🙂

YAY! I’m so happy you enjoyed CB. I’ll be reading more of it today. I was so disappointed in the half of Illusionarium that I’ve read. I had such high hopes. Is it bad I’m happy I’m not alone?

  9. says

Ooh I’m so glad Crimson Bound is living up to expectations!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THAT BOOK. And good on you for having a good reading week! ^_^ I haven’t even heard of half the ARCs on your stack, so I have some googling to do. 😉 YAY. I love finding out about new books.

I hadn’t heard of some of them either! I hope they are all fab! I hope to read more of CB tonight. I didn’t really use the weekend for reading.

ALL THE HARPER! I haven’t read Crimson Bound but after the beauty that was Cruel Beauty [hahaha] I know I have to have it! I’ve heard of The Cage and it actually sounds amazing. And since Megan Shepherd got so much praise for her other series, I’m fairly certain she’s as good as the hype says she is (:

    enjoy your books <3

Ah, yes, The Cage! It made my week when it showed up, I must admit! And Challenger Deep was insanely well written, I mean, it’s hard to read in a sense, because of the subject, but Neal Shusterman is just a genius. The Cost of all Things sounds pretty decent too, I think I have an eARC of it? And I am glad that you had a good week reading! It is so nice to take that time just to enjoy yourself, and not worry so much about posting if you’re just not feeling it! Perhaps one day, I will do the same 😉 Hope you have a wonderful week, I look forward to your thoughts on Challenger Deep and The Cage too!

Ooh, nice haul. And it can be so nice to just read for a week and not worry about the blog, can’t it? I’m glad I’ve got a backlog of posts scheduled so the pressure’s off.

    My STS.
