This week I focused on writing reviews. I’d been having a writing rut but finally broke free this week and mostly caught up! I still have a couple left to write but it feels good to have less waiting to be done. If you’re a blogger what do you do when you get in a review- writing rut? I decided not to force writing them so just continued to read and watch TV. I had hoped it would pass pretty quickly and it did. So happy I didn’t get far, far behind.
Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review.
Books
Last Week’s Posts
- Review of Uprooted by Naomi Novik
- Review of Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson
- Review of The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough
I watch TV when I hit a reviewing or reading rut. Does wonders. I hope you love all your new books.

It does! Sometimes TV is the best cure. 🙂
Yay for catching up to reviews 🙂 Slowly is good, though. <3 No need to rush it 🙂 I aaaalways write my review right after finishing the book, though, hih, and always about 1000 words :p I just cannot stop writing. Sigh. But then, I haven't read a book in over 2 weeks now 🙁 Sad face. TOMORROW. Tomorrow I will read. Probably. Anyway. YAAAAAY for so many amazing books this week Kristen 😀 You are the luckiest. <3 Ugh, Ungodly. And Slasher 😀 I WAAANTS THEM. Happy reading sweet girl. <3 And yay for Illuminae too 😀 Hope you are having the best weekend. <3
Yes! I feel relieved to have some of those reviews written. Granted I have more to write but it helps not having a million on the to do list. I am so impressed you write yours right after reading. I’ll finish a book and go to bed, etc. I am so excited about Ungodly and Slasher. I can’t believe how lucky I am to get both.
Ooooh!! YAY for catching up on reviews!
And look at that pile of awesomeness!! UNGODLY!! ILLUMINAE!! OF DREAMS AND RUST!!
*flails*
YES! It was an epic week of mail. I was totally not expecting dreams and rust so I’m over the moon excited about it. I was so excited when I opened the package my husband laughed at me. And Ungodly! Illuminae! GAH, so much awesome. You know my thoughts on Illuminae. Now I’m with you and waiting for the next book.
OOoh Ungodly AND Slasher Girls and Monster Boys?! Very nice! Looking forward to both of these! Though still need to read Mortal Gods! EEP! Happy Reading!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I know that both Ungodly and Slasher will be amazing. The author list for Slasher makes me feel all flaily. You must read Mortal Gods! Anything Kendare I’m 100% sold on 🙂
When I get in a rut, I just take a break like you do. I don’t rush it. Writing blog posts are not fun when you have to literally force yourself to write. Sometimes, I just have to walk away from the computer for a couple hours and be completely fine. Other times I have gone several months. It just really depends.
Slasher Girls and Monster Boys’ summary on Goodreads sounds so good! I hope you enjoy all of your new reads!
Thank Meredith. I totally agree. I don’t like to force myself with the blog because it is supposed to be fun. Sometimes just making myself start I’ll get into the swing of it. Pretty crazy how moods can vary. I can be completely motivated to do blog stuff for a good amount of time and then BAM, I have zero desire to work on anything related to it.
Same here. I don’t force myself to write when I’m not in the right mood. It will come eventually 😀 Great haul, by the way. I can’t wait for Illuminae and The Scorpion Rules. Happy reading!

I read Illuminae and it was really great. Never fun to have to force yourself to do something.
GAH! SO JEALOUS OF SLASHER GIRLS AND MONSTER BOYS! The list of authors is seriously just amazing and I am EXCITEEEEDDDDDDDDDD.
And ugh, I hate when that happens. I usually take a one week hiatus so I don’t get behind too much P Forced content is crappy content.
RIGHT? I can’t even fathom the author list. So many of my favorites. Yep, I took a bit of time off and got back into the swing of things.
Slasher Girls! Did I miss the mailing? I’m excited for this one! I have Of Dreams and Rust as well, I think I’m starting it next week… I definitely took on too many August 4th releases LOL. I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Kristen!

Ummm…I completely throw in the towel. I wrote my first review today in over a month, and it felt good, but I have no idea if it will snap me out of it.
Great pile of books! Hope you enjoy 🙂
It;s good to not force things when they aren’t coming naturally to you, so the television sounds like it was good for you. And as always, a lovely haul!
