Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review. So excited about this book haul:

For Review:
Thank you Macmillan, Disney, Random House and Two Lions

The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson, Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly, Burning by Elana K. Arnold, The Tyrant’s Daughter by J.C. Carleson, The Blood Guard by Carter Roy

The Kiss of Deception has been one of my very most coveted books coming out this summer. I was delighted to receive a review copy and had to start it immediately. I’m half way through it and really enjoying it. So far, it’s the type of book that refuses to be put down. Burning and The Tyrant’s Daughter are completely random since I’d not requested either and have never gotten anything from Random House before. I received an ARC of The Blood Guard so have made good progress in it as well. I don’t typically read MG so was a tad hesitant about reading this but am enjoying it.

I forgot to add this a couple weeks back. Thank you Macmillan!

I know nothing about this author or book but I love that cover and the summary is superb. I’m very excited to start it.

I don’t know much about The Tyrant’s Daughter. Reading the summary it’s not really a book I’d naturally gravitate to but I’m going to start it to see. I really, really hope Deep Blue is amazing. I want an underwater story to really be beyond brilliant and hoping this is it. So far, it appears I’ll be highly recommending the Kiss of Deception. Thanks Amy!

I won The Riverman through a twitter giveaway. I hadn’t heard of it but a quick look at GR encouraged me to enter. Lo and behold I won a copy. I was shocked. I hope it’s amazing and will be starting it fairly soon. Comes out next month I believe!

The cover for Deep Blue is very pretty—I’m nervous a tiny bit since most underwater books tend to not be that great. I hope this one breaks that mold. Thank you!

Thank you! It was a random package to get! I hope Burning is good. It’s not my typical genre (neither book is to be honest) but I’ll try them and hope they capture my interest. Hope you enjoy Burning!

Oh, yay, you DID get a copy of Deep Blue! Excellent! I got The Tyrant’s Daughter, too, but I don’t think it’s for me, so I’m giving my copy away. I like political intrigue and the like when it comes with a more fantastical setting. But April liked it well enough. I’m borrowing an ARC of The Kiss of Deception, so hopefully I’ll get that soon so I can see what all the fuss is about. I haven’t read anything by the author before. Enjoy all your new reads!

Jen–I did! I was so excited! It didn’t come with the pretty box but I was beyond thrilled. The Tyrant’s Daughter isn’t my genre but I’m going to give it a go just to make sure I don’t enjoy it, haha. I just finished The Kiss of Deception this evening…I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Read it soon! We need to plan another read along (hopefully we’ll be more excited about the book this time). Thanks Jen!

I am going to go back and read Pearson’s other books! She’s not been an author on my radar but having finished the Kiss of Deception she sure is now. I need to read ALL her books. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Oooo, such pretties! I got The Kiss of Deception and Deep Blue a few weeks ago, and I can’t wait to read both! Well, to be honest, I didn’t request Deep Blue, so we’ll see about that one, but I was so blown away by the neat package they sent, that I feel like I MUST read it 😀 I hope you read and enjoy all of your new books!

    Have a fantastic week!

    Check out my STS post!

I’m really hoping that Deep Blue will break the mold of underwater YA books. So far, I’ve not read any great ones. Maybe this will be it? Fingers crossed. Thanks for dropping by!

I love the cover for the Kiss of Deception and Deep Blue.
That’s too bad you didn’t like Dangerous, oh well, can’t win them all. Hope you enjoy all your new books though!

Yeah, I was so excited for Dangerous but like you say…they can’t all be gems. I love the covers too…so pretty. Have you seen the final cover for Kiss of Deception? It’s very pretty but I sort of like this temporary one more

      • says

Oh, I thought I had seen a different cover for Kiss of Deception, didn’t realize that this one’s only a temporary. I think I might like this one more too haha. I’m glad they kept the font/design of the title though.
