I’ve been largely absent from my blog and twitter this last week because my family welcomed a little puppy to our house. We decided to get him on a whim (sort of) and so I wasn’t as prepared as I would have liked. He has seriously taken up a lot of my time (he’s so gosh darn cute). I hope to get back to my typical schedule of posting, commenting and replying to comments.
Of course I have to include some pictures of our new puppy in today’s post. He is a shih tzu and yorkie mix (which is called a shorkie) and is about 8 weeks old. My Mom got a puppy too so we named them Sherlock (hers) and Watson (mine). haha, now they can solve back yard mysteries together. I imagine you’ll be seeing many more pictures of Watson
Now on to my latest book additions. Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review. So excited about this book haul:
For Review:
Under the Egg by Laura Marx Fitzgerald, Salvage by Alexandra Duncan, The Rules by Stacey Kade, The Hunt by Stacey Kade
My review of The Rules
Gift:
The Lovely and the Lost by Page Morgan, The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud
Last Week’s Posts
I only posted twice last week!
- Lego Cover Art of Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers
- Review of Plus One by Elizabeth Fama
I am so honored that Robin LaFevers posted about our Lego Cover Art. If you’ve not ever visited her site it is absolutely stunning and you need to head on over right about now.
Adorable!! And yeah, puppies take up a ton of time at first. But it’s well worth it!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
This is my first puppy so there is a big learning curve. Super cute and time consuming indeed.
ahhh, puppy! And what a cute one! I love the Sherlock/Watson names!
Thanks Stormy! I think it’s pretty cute 🙂
PUPPY! He is so so gorgeous. <3 (a dog is a lot of work, though.. but it is also so amazing to have one, hih. <3) And omg. I kind of hate you for getting so many HarperCollins books.. sobs. Salvage looks so GORGEOUS. *Wants it, hih* Anyway. You are awesome. And you got some awesome books. I hope you will enjoy everything Kristen 🙂 Happy reading. <3
Thank Carina. All pets are a lot of work. I’ve had a kitten before but so far the puppy has been way more needy. I hope you love Salvage when you get around to reading it. Harper has been very kind to me <3
OOGMMMMGGGWEFNWENROWE *SSSQQQUUUEEEEAAAAALLLLSSS* IT’S SO SO SO DAMN CUTE I CAN’T EVEN. I just want to run and steal it from you! I hope you have lots of fun with it. 😀 More pictures in the future please. 😉 And of course, happy reading!
I don’t think I could resist sharing more pictures. He’s so stinkin cute. When I saw his little face I knew I had to get him. A lot of work but so much fun.
DA PUPPY IS SO STINKIN’ CUTE!!!!! SO JEALOUS right now. 😉 lol XD XD I’d love a dog, but we don’t have a fenced yard and my parents aren’t keen on fencing it. *le sigh* But still. That is probably the cutest name ever, too.
This little one will be an indoor/outdoor doggy. I couldn’t have one without a fence. I’d worry so much. So glad you love the name 🙂 I was surprised how well it took to him.
THAT IS THE CUTEST PUPPY EVER OHMYGOSH. IS HE EVEN REAL CAN I STEAL HIM.
★ Under The Mountain wants your puppy ★
Hahahah!! My husband calls him a stuffed animal that pees (and whines)
Such a cute puppy!
Salvage looks and sounds quite interesting!
Have a great weekend and happy reading! 🙂

Love this comment! My Mom’s dog is black and white and is very smart so it seemed fitting that he be Sherlock. Mine’s much shorter so they are the cutest duo. I’ll post a picture of them together soon.
Oh my goodness!! Watson & Sherlock!! Those are the cutest names for puppies!!
And Watson is such a cutiepie!! I just wanna cuddle & squishy him! And I demand more pics on Twitter! 😉
Oooooh, you got Salvage!! I just cannot wait till my preorder of it finally downloads onto my Kindle!!
Happy reading (and playing with the puppy!!)
Thank you Pili! He is super cute. I think he gets cuter everyday. I promise to post more pictures on twitter and here 🙂
I hope you love Salvage when you get it!
OH MY GOD! Your puppy is so adorable, what a cutie pie! 🙂 And the books are pretty great as well, I’ve heard great things about Salvage, and I really really want to read it at some point. 🙂 Great haul! Have a nice weekend and happy reading. 🙂
I’d say it was a pretty good week with the puppy and books 🙂
WATSON! What an adorable name for a completely ADORABLE puppy. The Salvage cover is soooooo gorgeous. I hope you enjoy all the lovely books you received this week and that the puppy isn’t draining TOO much of your time!
Thank you! I was having so much trouble picking a name but then when I thought of Watson it was perfection 🙂 The Salvage cover is so very beautiful. I love that we see Earth from space. Love it.
Are Watson and Sherlock from the same litter? You should have a new rule of one puppy pic per post.
I’m looking forward to The Hunt. The Rules was such a pleasant surprise. And I’ve picked up Salvage and put it down about three times. I’m trying hard to read my library books. (Weird priorities, right?) For some reason, my unread library books are stressing me out nearly as much as my ARCs.
The initial plan was to get two puppies from the same litter but that didn’t work out so they are not. They get along well though so it works out 🙂
I agree, I really enjoyed The Rules. I know what you mean about library books! They always stress me so I don’t really get them anymore.
Awww puppy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for Salvage! Exactly my kind of book! Enjoy!
My Stack
Thank you! I hope you love Salvage when you get to reading it
Awww, such a cute puppy 🙂 I wish we had a dog – my sister is allergic though 😮
I have Salvage as well! I’m on the tour… in fact, I think my tour spot is on Tuesday O_O I should go read it. I hope you love it! And I have The Lovely and the Lost as well! I hope it’s great. Enjoy all of your new books, Kristen!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Check out my STS post!
Aw! I would hate to have an animal allergy. My dog is supposed to be hypoallergenic but I have no clue if that is true.
Oh, I’ll have to check out your tour stop! Thanks for stopping by!
That is a kissable puppy face. What a cutie!!! Congrats on your new addition!
I hope you enjoy the Screaming Staircase, I loved that book. Project Paper Doll looks interesting!
Enjoy all your new read and your new puppy 🙂
Michelle
Thank you! He is such a sweetie!
I love the title of the Screaming Staircase. makes me so excited that you loved it!
Oh my gosh! SO CUTE!!! Shorkies are ADORABLE.
Under the Egg looks awesome, and I’m hoping to read it soon. Salvage also sounds good. (:
Enjoy the books and the puppy!
Prior to getting my dog I had no clue what a shorkie was! I love the name though 🙂 And they are so super cute.
I’d not heard of Under the Egg until it showed up…I hope it’s amazing 🙂
Awwww! The puppy is soooo cute, I love that his name is Watson (:
Great books this week. Love the cover of Savage. And The Screaming Staircase sounds amazing! Happy reading!
Here’s my Sunday post & STS at Bookmunchies (:
Thanks so much Cyn! That Salvage cover is so beautiful. I can’t wait to read The Screaming Staircase–what a great title.
That is such a CUTE puppy! And Watson? Yes!!! But I know what you mean; puppies are indeed a handful. A lady in my office just got an eight-week-old Boston Terrier and she’s been bringing her to work the last couple days to keep an eye on her. Makes for a nice break, though- sneak away to pet the puppy. 😉
Oh wow! I bet the Boston terrier is so very cute. I imagine that is a wonderful break. I do think I’d be a tad stressed bring a puppy into the work environment because knowing mine it would whine super loudly and disrupt everyone.
Great haul. OMG that puppy is just tooooooo cute! I would totally get distracted by that cute little bundle of fur too. I hope you enjoy your books 🙂 My STS.
I feel like I’m able to get a bit more done now but I pretty well wasted a week just staring into his cute eyes (and cleaning up messes)
Oh Mah Gawd that puppy is like absolutely the cutest dog….EVER!! He’s got dem adorable puppy eyes!!! And you got Salvage! AWESOME!! I totally wanna read it! Happy Reading! Here’s my STS if you’d like to stop by.
His eyes look sad and so, so sweet. That face! He is so cute. I am smitten.
Adorable! Congrats! They are a ton of work, but so worth it! My puppy just turned 1 and I swear I love him more everyday. Enjoy 🙂
Aw! Happy birthday to your puppy! Its pretty difficult to juggle everything but he is worth it for sure.
He is so freakishly cute! Makes me want to get one right now lol Hope you enjoy your books
haha! thank you!
PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! LOVE!!!!
love their names too!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Book Hangovers Blabs Books
haha! Lots of work but oh so cute 🙂
That has got to be one of the cutest puppies ever! And the name is freaking adorable, too! Have fun with him! I’ll be reading The Lovely and the Lost shortly. I just re-read/listened to the first book to prep myself for this sequel. I’m ready for some more gargoyle action! =)
I’ve yet to read the first book but now that I have Lovely and the Lost I need to get on reading it. I have a good friends that adores them so I’m sure I’ll like it (and so happy you are a fan of the first book).
So much cuteness!!!!!
Thanks!
Elementary. my dear Watson! He’s adorable!!
-Scott Reads It
Thanks Jon! <3
Congrats on the new puppy!! 🙂
And can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Salvage – kind of had mixed thoughts. o.o
I’m half way through Salvage and I’m not loving it. Seriously considering DNF 🙁
OMG Watson is so freaking adorable!! So jealous!!
I hope you LOVE The Rules, I enjoyed that one very much! I’m currently reading The Hunt, but it’s not wowing me like the first book did =/
Our little puppy just turned 1. We got her when she was 8 weeks old. Man do I remember the housetraining, and puppy proofing, and the CHEWING. Wait, the chewing is still happening. Lol. It is so worth it though! That is a super adorable puppy!
