2016 Blogger Resolutions

It’s 2016 and AHHH I can’t believe it. I was out of town all last weekend so I feel so out of the loop and I feel that I’ve not posted in ages. I hope now that the kiddo is back in school I can be crazy productive here and read a ton of books. I’ve only just finished one book so far this year (Bookishly Ever After)

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke an the Bookish. Each week a different question is posed and gives us bloggers an opportunity to share our top tens on all different types of bookish topics.

  1. Read more backlist titles and books I’ve owned but haven’t ever made the time to read.
  2. Reread The Winner’s Curse series and The Kiss of Deception
  3. Try to request less arcs- attempt to avoid getting pulled into the hype and desiring books I’d normally not be 100% keen on reading.
  4. Do try to branch out into more genres. I’ve started reading a bit of contemporary and I’d like to keep this up
  5. Comment more on other blogs! (yep this one EVERY year)
  6. Finally plan posts ahead of time. I am the “type it up and hit publish” type of blogger but I’d love to have some posts ready to go for those times I’m busy.
  7. Attend TLA in April- I’ve never been to a big convention type event before
  8. Be pickier about what blog tours I participate in (oops- I’m signed up for like 6 already this year-but I’m crazy excited for each of the books)
  9. Continue to build up blogger friendships and meet new bloggers.
  10. Figure out a better blog/life balance.

Those are all I can think of right now. I’m fairly crummy at making New Year resolutions- it’s not something I really do for my personal life but I do like setting goals for my bloggy life. In the past I’ve focused on growing my reader base but this year I think I’ll focus more on my enjoyment and taking control of what I do in my space- reading the books I want to read and all that jazz.

To all my readers…

I want to do more “me” reading this year, too. I have always wanted to read Ulysses and War and Peace, and I have them both as audiobooks now. I am not counting on getting them both completed this year (one is 90+hours and the other 60+hours), but maybe. Happy New Year!

oooh, You’ll have to let me know how those go on audio book. Do you know which you’ll try first? I’ve never read either. There are MANY classics I’ve not read before. I probably should think of doing that. I hope we both accomplish more reading for ourselves this year!

Great resolutions! I particularly like the one about having posts written ahead of time. I’m like that too. I sometimes have to rush to finish a book so I can publish the review and that’s never good. I’d love to have some ready to go for when I’m busy and/or haven’t been able to finish the book. Plus I’m so on the same page about reading more books I wouldn’t normally read, especially contemporary novels.

Great list! I had Less ARCs on my list last year and I have to say that I had a much more enjoyable reading year. I’m so excited for the release of the final Winner’s book so I will probably reread this one before then as well. Such an amazing trilogy.
I put comment more on my list this week too, I’ve seen it on a lot of lists, hopefully we will keep each other going! I too am going to try and schedule more posts, like you for the times when I am super busy and just don’t have the time to write posts on the day.
I wish you lots of luck with your resolutions and happy new year! 🙂

“Finally plan posts ahead of time” — SAME. HERE. For myself, I just don’t like the feeling of having little time to prepare a review by release date or rushing to get my TTT’s done. I’ve started to use an editorial calendar, so hopefully I keep up with it! Good luck to you, and I hope you read some excellent books this year. (BTW, I *still* need to read The Kiss of Deception … AHHHH!)

These are pretty up there with the most doable goals for 2016 – I’ll have to admit I’m a bigger fan of writing posts ahead of time and finding the balance between the blog and real life. I feel like at times it meshes too much.

I love all of your goals for this year! Rereads are on my resolutions, too… but I really love your commitment to branching out your reading interests, as well as commenting more on other blogs! That’s something I’m not so great at, too. Excited to see what you do in the coming year! 🙂

Great goals! I’m trying to read some backlist titles and books from my TBR pile this year as well.

I’m also looking to read genres outside of my usual ones too. I’m aiming for at least 5 titles this year that aren’t mystery, sci-fi, fantasy or romance. 😛

    Good luck with your resolutions.

I have just about all of these are my own mental list. I definitely want to comment on more blogs and get to know people better, and I totally want to tackle my owned books this year. I think I did pretty well last year but I want to get more of them read this year.

Balance is so tough! I find that I go in waves, which you know, is the opposite of balance… *sigh* I love the Remnant Chronicles and Winner’s series! Awesome books. They’re some of my favorites. I can’t wait to see how they end. Just two and half months until The Winner’s Kiss! Then we’ll know how it happens and hopefully Arian and Kestrel will be together!

See, I find that I have to plan posts ahead of time because I don’t have the time to just sit and type them up anymore, which is sad. I miss having more time to blog but that’s life for you.

Great resolutions! I’m completely in love with Dr who additions in this piece! Good luck branching out because I’m horrible at it! Lol have a great year! I’m going to try and read more of your posts!

These all sound totally doable and also like they’ll make life better for you. As someone who is hoping to read a TON of books I own this year I am wishing you special luck with that.

I hope you are able to see it through with a lot of these resolutions! I need to stop getting freebie books and requesting as well because it can be so easy to do! I am hoping to get through those backlist books so hopefully we can do this together 🙂 But 2016 is fresh blood and has the promise of a new start.

Great resolutions! I definitely want to branch out and try reading other genres that I wouldn’t normally too and also really need to work on my blog/life balance! Planning posts ahead is also a great idea and something I need to work on too! Good luck with your resolutions 🙂
