I feel like this week passed by in a blur of activity, and honestly I’m shocked it’s the weekend. Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review.
For Review (via the Publisher):
Prototype by M.D. Waters
Won (thank you Nikki from Fiction Freak):
Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis and Dark Metropolis by Jaclyn Dolamore
Gift (from Publisher-thank you Bloomsbury!!):
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I promptly loaned this to my father to read. I forgot to snap a picture of the paperback but trust me it’s beautiful. If you were following My Friends Are Fiction last year you would have heard me professing my love of this book through my review, interview with Samantha and the LegoΒ character art we created. If you’ve not read this then I recommend it if you like science fiction with a slower pace with incredible world building. It is a slow burn type of book that I adored to pieces.
How was your week? What new books did you get?
I’m still sad that I didn’t enjoy The Bone Season. I might give it a shot again, and I do plan to check out the next book. But honestly, I can barely remember anything from the first book at this point.
Joy from JoyousReads has raved about Archetype. Have you read that? I’d like to check that out. It was a Kindle deal recently, but I didn’t pick it up immediately, and then I forgot about it.
You know…Archetype was a 3.5 star read for me I think (3 or 3.5) I had some issues with it but I did want to read how it finishes so couldn’t pass up the ARC of Prototype.
I’m sad you didn’t love The Bone Season too! I need to do some brushing up on some of the smaller details before I read The Mime Order. Can’t wait for it.
The Bone Season was very good indeed. I hope to like the Mime Order as well. Great haul. Dark Bound looks really good .Enjoy your new books.
Grace
I can’t wait for The Mime Order! Hopefully arcs will be going out soon π Thanks for stopping by Grace!
Otherbound and Dark Metropolis are two books I really need to read soon, I keep reading other stuff! There’s so may great books out there, I often push books back. I’ll have to come up with a better reading system.
I’ve read Dark Metropolis and enjoyed it. I’ll be curious to read your review for it. There are so, so many amazing books that are needing to be read. It’s so hard to choose which one gets to be next. I try to stick by pub date but often my mood changes that.
Oh I LOVE your The Bone Season lego art!! I didn’t really like the book…but I appreciate it, if that makes sense. lol Probably doesn’t. I just felt like it was very well set up I just didn’t “get it” or something. >-< ANYWAY. Prototype looks really good!
My Stacking the Shelves!
Thanks! Glad you thought the Lego art was fun. It totally makes sense. Not every book is for every person. I think people really loved it or didn’t. Didn’t see many in-betweens.
I need to read Archetype! I have heard such great things about this series so far! Enjoy Prototype!!
Happy Reading!!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
I hope you enjoy Archetype when you get around to reading it! I thought it was a pretty good book so I’m excited to read the sequel and last book. No clue how it’ll end.
The Bone Season was a fantastic read! I’m hoping to finish reading the sampler from The Mime Order soon, cause so far it is also great!
Happy reading, Kristen!
Great haul! I still need to read Archetype before I hit book 2!
Haha, the Bone Season Lego art is very cool! I loved that book as well, it’s so fresh! I can’t wait for The Mime Order.
And it’s so cool that you got to interview Samantha.

I still need to read The Bone Season!! I swear I will soon because I keep hearing how amazing it is! I’ve only got the eBook but I think I well want a print copy to read it.
Great haul, Kristen! I love your blog too. I have heard so much about The Bone Season, but I have yet to read it. I hope you enjoy everything you got this week.

Sigh. Lots of pretty books π I hope you love them all Kristen. <3 I haven't read any of them; but they look great ;p Happy reading π
Congratulations on the win Kristen! I hope you enjoy the goodies. π
I so badly want to participate in the re-read for The Bone Season before diving into The Mime Order, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to work it in. I do have it on audio, so maybe I could do it that way? But I know me, and once I start, it’ll be hard to stop. It always is when we read together, too. π Speaking of, we should do a buddy read soon. π
