Notice anything different? I decided it was time for a change so gave My Friends Are Fiction a make-over. I’m loving it. Last week I skipped Stacking the Shelves to post my stop on Cuddlebuggery‘s epic giveaway hop, Getting to Know You. You can still enter to win a pre-order so head over.
I’m including 2 week’s worth of books this time and boy I love each of them. Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review.
For Review (via Edelweiss):
Some new Harper titles went live on Edelweiss so I ran to check to see if this was one of them and YES IT WAS. I’m so excited. I hope it’s as amazing as I hope/expect it to be.
For Review (thank you Harper and HMH!):
Won (Thank you Irene Goodman Literary Agency):
I feel so lucky I checked Twitter right when I did because I won the last copy and it was purely by luck. It made my day, week, month. I have already read The Wrath & The Dawn and WOW. I loved it.

A wonderful friend took pity on me and loaned me their copy and I’m oh so thankful. I’ve been waiting for this book for years and I couldn’t wait to dive in. I’m a bit more than half way and honestly, I’m the tiniest bit disappointed. I feel so sad saying that. It’s written beautifully of course but the subject matter is a tad dull for me. Isn’t that horrible? I want to love it! I hope the last half will pick up for me.
Gifted (thank you Big Honcho Media!):
I’ll be having a special something coming next month related to this series. Keep your eyes open!
Posts From Last Week- there aren’t many since I was busy on the website design switch
- Review of Killer Instinct by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- Getting to Know You Giveaway Hop– Enter to win a pre-order of one of my anticipated 2015 release (Red Queen, An Ember in the Ashes or A Court of Thorns and Roses (International)
I am very close to hitting 3k followers on Twitter. My good friend Jon from Bookish Antics is close to 2k so we figured when we both met our goal we’d have a giveaway.
That’s it for me. I’m shocked Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK for my US and Canadian friends. I don’t feel ready to host just yet but soon. I hope you all have a fabulous time next week and I want to let you all know that I am insanely grateful and thankful for each of you. Big virtual hugs!
Yey, I’m so excited to read your thoughts on Wrath and the Dawn! It sounds so awesome 😀
It was very, very good Anya! I loved that it played on 1001 Arabian Nights. The writing style hit me just right and the setting was wonderful. AND, there was a bit of magic. I think the next one will feature more. You should give it a go just to see if it’s for you. Then tell me what you think!!
I am loving the new look of your blog, Kristen! We Midnightians are actually thinking of getting a new design as well 😀 Anyway, I hope you love Every Word! It is like cajillion times awesomer than Every Breath, IMO and the romance is spot on!
Lovely haul, girl! <33
I think making a change was much needed and hopefully will motivate me 🙂 I love your blog but I understand the want to change. I wish I had time to read Every Word right now. I will very soon! The TBR list is overwhelming me a bit.
Blue Lily, Lily Blue looks so good! I really need to get a copy soon. And when did Shadow Scale come out??? I’ve been waiting for that book for years. It’s a shame that you’re a bit disappointed with it though. I hope you enjoy the rest of your books. 😀
Shadow Scale releases next year…that’s the ARC. Isn’t it crazy pretty to be an advanced copy? I wouldn’t expect it to be so shiny.
GAAAAAAAH EVERY WORDDD!! I have so many feelings when it comes to that one. EAT IT UP. ENJOY. THE ROMANCE WAS PERFECTTTT!!
I’m insanely curious about The Wrath & Dawn, and even more so now that it’s got you’re tick of approval. I can’t wait! (Which is basically my attitude towards all 2015 releases soooo 😉 ) Have a good week, Kristen! <3
I must read it soon!! I WANT THE AMAZINGNESS OF IT NOW. Jess, The Wrath & The Dawn was very, very good. I think you’d like it! So many awesome 2015 releases…it’s painful!
I had to contain myself when I saw all the goodies on Edelweiss, but I also got Illusionarium. I LOVED Entwined and I’m so excited. Dangerous deceptions has a nice cover 😀 Happy reading!
I’m really excited about Illusionarium! I’ve been waiting for them to put it up there so I was hitting DL super fast, haha. I hope we love it
I was so excited for Illusionarium too! Might start it tonight. I really ought to start the Raven Boys series but I’ve seen mixed reviews and I’m a little unsure hehe
Enjoy your awesome hauL!
Here is my weekly haul post!
Raven Boys is really well done. Have you read any of Maggie’s other work? I started Illusionarium last night…I couldn’t resist!
Blue Lily Lily Blue is awesome and I hope you’ll love it, Kristen!
I’m so happy for you getting Dawn and letting me know it was awesome enough to deserve preordering and YAY for Illusionarium, I’ve requested it on EW, crossing my fingers!
I do hope Shadow Scale will pick up on the second half and you’ll love it!
Happy reading!
Did you read Seraphina? I hope it picks up too. Maybe it’s a mood thing? I don’t know. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you on EW!
Awesome stack. I so wanted to read Prey. Prey sounds so good indeed. I hope you love all your new books.
Grace @ Books of Love
Thank you Grace! I don’t know very much about Prey to be honest. I hope you get to read it soon.
I love the new blog design, Kristen! I can’t remember if I’ve said that already… Ooh The Wrath and The Dawn!! I know you’ve said you liked it; I sooo want to read that! Illusionarium sounds really good, I hope to start that soon. Enjoy your books and have a lovely weekend!
Thank you so much Rachel! I’m so pleased with it. I think I like it more with each passing day. The Wrath & The Dawn was SO GOOD. I’m about 30% into Illusionarium and I’m very intrigued with the premise but the writing seems a bit rushed? I’m not sure…something feels a tad off but I’m still liking it. We’ll see.
I just requested a bunch of books on EW including Illusionarium! It sounds fantastic! And I cannot wait to get my hands on Gathering Darkness, I am really enjoying this series.
Happy Reading!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
I hope you get approved fast! That cover for Illusionarium is so beautiful–I hope the story is too. The cover of Gathering Darkness in person is so, so lovely!
Eeeek! So many amazing books for these past weeks Kristen. <3 I really hope you will end up loving them all 😀 So excited about you reading the Edelweiss book right now; so excited to hear what you think of it. <3 But aw. Shadow Scale 🙁 I am so sorry you aren't fully loving it. Wishing I could steal it from you, lol. <3 Anyway. Happy reading sweetie 🙂
Oh! I didn’t mention the new design (A) but I talked about that on twitter 🙂 But ANYWAY. The new design is gorgeous 😀 So pretty. So jealous, lol. And I love the new comment form thing. It looks so pretty to write here, hih 🙂
I’m loving the new design even more every day. I enjoy the comment box too! haha. I am DEVISTATED that I didn’t love Shadow Scale. We talked about this but so sad. You must read it immediately upon its release and let me know if I should give it another go.
Wow, so many great books!! Awesome win!! I am so excited for THE WRATH AND THE DAWN. And that cover is just epic!! I hope you enjoy all your new goodies.

Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Thanks Alyssa! I think you’ll really enjoy Wrath and I’m so curious to hear what you’ll think about Shadow Scale
Ahhhh Polaris and Gathering Darkness! I can’t wait for those books!!!!
The hard cover of Gathering Darkness is beyond beautiful in person!
Ugh, I hate it when you wait so long for one and it ends up disappointing you. 🙁 Such a shame though. Blue Lily, Lily Blue though! I’m waiting until the last one to finally read all of them together, only read The Raven Boys so far. Loved it though! 🙂
Here’s mine
Kirsty @ StudioReads
I wonder if I had too high of expectations? I don’t know, I’m just so sad. I want everyone to read it so I can hear if I’m crazy or not. I am SO excited for Blue Lily. I adore Maggie’s writing style. It might be smart to wait and read them all after they’re released. Waiting between books is so painful.
Illusionarium sounds amazing. I hope you love it! Happy reading.
Jillyn @ Bitches n Prose
Thank you Jillyn!
Now, I’m soo excited to read The Wrath & The Dawn. I can’t wait to see your review!
YES Anatea! I think you’ll enjoy Wrath very much!
Awesome haul, lady! Every Word is even better than Every Breath, IMO. There is a scene at the end that will completely shred you! I finally caught up on The Raven Cycle and BL,LB is awesome, hope you love it! Can’t wait to see what you think of Illusionarium (fingers crossed I get approved on EW) and The Wrath & The Dawn!
Happy reading!
Danielle! I started Every Word today and AHHHHH I am so addicted to it! I’m already mourning the wait until book 3 (which I’ll be ordering from Australia again). I love this series. And I’m terrified to be shredded *sobs* I am so pumped for BL, LB…the cover is the prettiest so far I think. And my fingers and toes are crossed for you on EW
I want to read those Ellie Marney books so bad!
Yes, Erin, you do! They are so good.
Fantastic haul! I must check out EW for all the awesome Harper Collins covers!
So excited for Shadow Scale, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it! Hope you have an awesome week (:
Thanks Cyn! Harper always releases so many books and their covers are always beautiful. Have a great week yourself!
Don’t mind me I’m just internally crying at the thought of Shadow Scale being bad. I’m not emotional. *wipes tears*
-Jon from Bookish Antics!
I KNOW JON. My heart is broken because I wanted to love it so, so much. I want you to read it ASAP so we can talk! I hope I’m wrong and it’s an amazing book that is not in the slightest bit dull or slow paced.
Wow – nice haul! Illusionarium seems to be a popular one. And of course, we’re so excited for Blue Lily, Lily Blue as well. That’s been such an awesome series! Hope you enjoy your goodies. Here’s ours: BiblioJunkies Happy Reading! ~ Bel
