I think it’s been a month since I’ve done a Stacking the Shelves. I’ve had a crazy holiday season…right after Thanksgiving meal we found out that my grandpa was very ill so I headed out the next day with my parents to see him. I stayed the weekend and got some great time with him at the hospital. Then a couple weeks later he passed. He was one of the most special people in my life so it hit me very hard. He was such an amazing man and impacted so many people in a positive way. I was able to attend his funeral and rejoice about his life and memory. It has been an incredibly difficult time for my family and I’m so thankful to all of you that passed a kind word, thought and prayer for me and my family. Thank you.
And just this last week My Friends Are Fiction turned 2 years old. Shocking it’s been that long.
So, all that happened and now Christmas is NEXT WEEK. I have no clue how that happened. Time has slipped away so fast and 2014 is nearly over. I have been trying to go and find all the books I’ve gotten since all this begun and I think I have all the pictures gathered up.
Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is a weekly meme where you show what books you’ve purchased, gotten from the library, received from giveaway, as gifts or for review.
For Review (via publisher ):
I’ve read Ignite and you can read my review here. I’m also giving this copy away on Twitter–interested you can see details here. I’ve started Unmade and plan on the other two very soon. I’m really excited to see if Suspicion will be great or horrible for me since I’ve seen both opinions on it. I will say the cover is very pretty.
For Review (Penguin First to Read):
I was pumped to get Dove Arising as an e-arc to review. I’ve started it (only 30 pages in) and liking the writing so far.
Traded:
YES.
Gifted:
Thank you, thank you, thank you dearest Stacee! Finally a copy to have for my own. I needed to own the ARC and the finished version.
Kelly sent me Snow Like Ashes (SIGNED) for Christmas as well as Seeker and Forbidden. She is the SWEETEST.
Borrowed:
Thank you Sajda. I was so incredibly eager to read Court of Fives since I’ve been a fan of Kate Elliott’s adult fantasy. I’ve read this one and liked it but perhaps my expectations were a tiny bit high. I still think this is worth a read it just wasn’t the 5 star read I’d hoped for.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Nice haul, I’m really curious above Dove Arising. YAY, I’m so glad you got your copy of Ember 🙂 Happy holidays!
Thank you Rachel—it’s been a rough holiday season but it is getting easier.
I’ve started Dove Arising and it’s good so far. Very curious to see how it goes though.
Ooh Suspicion looks so pretty from that picture! DOES IT HAVE A LEATHERY COVER? (Because it looks like it).
Merry Christmas, Kristen <33
The cover is that soft matte finish that is smooth and nice. It’s really beautiful and I’m hoping I end up liking it though it’s not been overly popular.
Merry Christmas to you Melanie!
These look amazing! I am really excited about Suspicion. Enjoy 😀
My StS
I hope Suspicion ends up being really good.
Nice haul. It’s always awesome when friends send you books that they know you will enjoy. Great haul of books.

YES! So glad to see that you have Ember =D
I really want to read Dove Arising — it seems like a great book.
Also, I’m really sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Thank you Sajda! You are the sweetest in so many ways!
I really need to read Snow Like Ashes! I keep seeing people being enthusiastic about it the last couple of weeks. Great haul!
My STS.
It is really good Nikki! I hope you enjoy it when you read.
Sending all my love for you and yours Kristen, it is so hard to lose a loved one! *hugs*
At least with books sometimes we can find a bit of solace losing ourselves in a different world, unless we end up having a reading slump, that can also happen…
I haven’t heard many good things about Suspicion, but the cover is sure gorgeous. YAY for Invaded is one of my highly awaited sequels of next year!
Happy reading Kristen and Happy Holidays.
I’m sending love your way too. It’s odd that we’ve both been going through this at the same time. Thank you for all your support PIli…it means the world to me.
Suspicion’s cover is worth keeping for sure. I’m hoping I actually end up loving it. We’ll see. Very curious.
Invaded! I’m really really excited. I hope it’s as good (or better) than the first book.
Happy holidays to you!
I’m so jealous of Snow Like Ashes! I have Suspicion as well- I hope it’s as good as it sounds. Happy reading!
Jillyn @ Bitches n Prose
Looks like you’ve got some good books this week. I wasn’t too crazy about Defy, but I can’t help but be intrigued by Ignite. On the plus side, the cover for Ignite looks pretty.
Once again, I’m so sorry for your loss, Kristen. My thoughts are with you and your family <3
Ember!!! YOU LOVEED THAT ONE SO MUCH AND NOW I'M EVEN MORE EXCITED!
Great haul!! I have several of these on my TBR list. I’m super curious about Suspicion as well- I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on that one. Princess of Thorns= cannot contain the excitement. I’m hoping to start it soon. Can’t wait to see what you think of these! I hope you and your family find peace and as much joy as possible in the oncoming weeks.
My condolences! I feel bad about being excited for books and yet you had a death in the family. Hugs!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!

And I'm hoping to read Princess of Thorns very, very soon 🙂 Really cannot wait for An Ember in the Ashes. <3 So many awesome books sweetie. I hope you love them all 😀 Happy reading Kristen. <3
Awesome haul, girl! Excited about Dove Arising – I really hope that’s a good one! You’ll have to let me know how you like it ASAP. 🙂
Happy reading, and Merry Christmas! <3
I am so sorry for your loss. It’s always the most difficult during the holidays.
Congratulations again on your second year blogging!
I’ve been really wanting to read Forbidden. The cover is gorgeous. Snow Like Ashes is one of my favorites!
