February To Be Read Pile

It’s February! I can’t believe it. I think is say that EVERY month but time goes too fast. I can’t keep up. I feel pretty motivated this first day of the new month so hopefully it’s a really productive month.

I’m so sorry I didn’t link these books to Goodreads…I’m just way too lazy today!

The TBR Pile

So, I should probably hold off on The Rose and the Dagger since it won’t come out for months but I can’t resist. I’m about half way and I love it. I’m taking my time and savoring every word. I started Lady Midnight but I’m only a couple of chapters in. It is a HUGE book. I’m halfway through Reign of Shadows and it’s ok so far. I’m not loving it or hating it. We’ll see how the second half goes for me. And The Keeper of the Mist has been a slooooow going read. I read about a chapter a night before bed.

Blog Tours

This month I have several blog tours I’m taking part in.

  • 2/2- The Winner’s Kiss– I’ll be talking about my favorite literary kiss.
  • 2/3- Blackhearts– Nicole Castroman will be a guest on the blog.
  • 2/17- The Crown’s Game

Last Month’s Reads

The books without a rating are DNFs. I also reread The Falconer but I didn’t count it on Goodreads.

My December To Be Read Pile

Ack! It’s December and I don’t feel ready! This month my blog turns 3 years old! AHHHH. How is that possible? Look for a post about that soon. I’ve not planned anything yet but hopefully inspiration hits.

So for this month I’m focusing on mostly January releases. I’m incredibly excited about my pile…

The Books

But, before I start any of these I will be finishing Frozen Tides and Their Fractured Light. Both books are really well done so yay!

What are you planning to read this month? Have you read any in my pile yet?

My October To Be Read Pile

Happy Halloween month! I can’t believe we are this far into 2015 already. I love October and am already excited about Halloween. My family is going to dress up in Star Wars costumes this year. Kiddo will be Darth Vader, hubby will be Obi Wan and I’m going to be Princess Leia. Last year we had a batman theme…

I’m thinking up a fun thing for the blog for this month too…hopefully I can get it together in a timely manner. It has absolutely nothing to do with books but I think it’ll be fun regardless.

Now…to the books…

October TBR

Looking at my TBR I’m realizing I don’t have a ton of creepy reads! I’m nearly done with A Madness So Discreet (it’s amazing!) and I think Flashes is creepy?

What do you have planned for this month?

Do you dress up for Halloween?

My February To Read Pile

January is behind us and now it’s the month of love- February. I ended up reading 12 books in January and I’d love to read that many again this month but I’m going to keep my reading pile smaller than that. I don’t want to cause unnecessary stress on myself.

I had to start The Heart of Betrayal immediately upon receiving it because I’ve been waiting forever and I’m not patient. I’m about 50 pages from the end so it’s cheating a bit to have it on the list but whatever. It’s been amazing- maybe even better than the first book.

I am about half-way into Invaded and sadly I’m not loving it. I’ve been tempted to DNF but I’ll keep trying for a tiny bit more. Solitaire looks to be different than my norm and was unsolicited but I’m going to give it a shot. The Storyspinner doesn’t release all that soon but I know I’ll not be able to wait to read it much longer.

I’ve started Magonia, Illusionaruim and A Wicked Thing but haven’t made much progress on any of them. I hope to read them all this month too.

I’m really excited about the posts I’ve got planned this month. I have 3 interviews this month:

  • Interview with Melinda Salisbury author of The Sin Eater’s Daughter-first week of February
  • Interview with Becky Wallace author of The Storyspinner-second week of February
  • I’ll be participating in 12 Days of Fictional Swooning Hop- February 13th
  • Interview with Karen Bao author of Dove Arising– end of February

What do you plan to read this month?

The TBR Tag

tbr tagI was tagged by Jen and April from Starry Eyed Revue to share my TBR pile (s). This was created by Rachel at A Perfection Called Books and Dana from Dana Square. I think it’s a really fun way to share our reading piles and talk a little about how we might organize (or not) our TBR.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
Me? Organized?

Really though, if you’ve seen my past post on my intimidating TBR pile you’ll know that I’m often not organized or in control of this area of my life. It’s a problem really. Crashing book piles and books gathering cobwebs (don’t worry those are fake, glittery spiders).

Others use excel spreadsheets, calendars and lists. I tend to use piles: by my bed, on the counter, on bookcases, on the floor…

I do utilize Goodreads but I don’t look at it as often as I probably should.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
I am mostly a print book type of person. I have some e-books but I tend to forget about them. Out of sight out of mind for me.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
I try to go by the release date but sometimes this can cause the dreaded reading slump. So I try to pick by mood within a certain time frame (I give myself an option for any book that releases within the next couple of months). For a really anticipated release I’ll read it regardless.

A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?
According to Goodreads the first book I added to my TBR shelf that I’ve not read is The Princess Bride by Williams Goldman

The Princess Bride

As for a book that’s been sitting on my bookcase the longest mine is the same as Jen’s The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I’ve read so much of his work but for some reason this one has been left behind.

The Graveyard Book

A book that you recently added to your TBR pile?
My most recently added book is Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick

The Ghosts of Heaven

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover:
Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell- I still have absolutely no clue what it’s about but I MUST HAVE IT.

A book on your TBR that you NEVER plan on actually reading:
I hope to read them all at some point but I started Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell and couldn’t get into it. Really I should take it off the list…

Dear Killer

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for:
THE WINNER’S CRIME by Marie Rutkoski.

The Winner's Crime (The Winner's Trilogy, #2)

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you:
The Vampire Academy series beyond the first few books. I read book 1 and wasn’t in love. I’ve been told countless times it gets oh so much better. Also, there are some people (cough Crystal cough) that say I have to read Rites of Passage by Joy N Hensley.

Rites of Passage

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you:
Take your pick of anything contemporary- Fangirl, The Fault in Our Stars, etc.

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read:
There are so many! The Winner’s Crime, Blue Lily, Lily Blue, and on and on and on. Books that I have in my possession that I’ve not gotten too yet: The Cure for Dreaming and Mortal Heart are the first that come to mind.

The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
Going through it for this post I’ve realized it is so out of date with books I’ve lost interest in, etc. I really need to clean house and add books I’m interested in. Right now I have 528 books.

I’m tagging Crystal from Crystal in Bookland, Kelly from Effortlessly Reading and Jon from Scott Reads It. You’re it.
