When I read the prompt for this week I knew exactly what I’d recommend- Fantasy books. I’ve read fantasy since I was a wee childΒ (started with the Dragonlance Chronicles). I had trouble limiting my fantasy recs and honestly, I can’t really say these are the BEST but I adore them each and every one.
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke an the Bookish. Each week a different question is posed and gives us bloggers an opportunity to share our top tens on all different types of bookish topics.
Books for Fantasy Fans
I’ve reviewed a good amount of these on this blog so I’ll link to either my review or Goodreads if I’ve not reviewed the book.
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
- The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
- The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
- The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
- A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab
- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
- The Imposter Queen by Sarah Fine
- Rebel of the Sands by Alywn Hamilton
- Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
- A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
I loved the Throne of Glass series and A Song of Ice and Fire as well but I still haven’t read the others! So many books, so little time! I’m definitely making time for the Mistborn series soon though! π

I love your review on Mistborn. It’s been on my TBR for ages now – I really just need to read it already!
I have tried to mistborn twice now and I just cannot get through it – which is upsetting. But The Winner’s Trio is prob my favourite fantasy series of all time (not including Harry Potter), it’s amazing really. Thanks for the list.
We share A Game of Thrones on our list. It’s great to see how we have such a differing list despite having the same topic. So much fantasy to choose from.
I really, really want to read A Darker Shade of Magic, but other books keep bumping it further down on my TBR list. I need to just pick up a copy and start reading! My TTT
Fantastic list! I love the Throne of Glass series, The Grisha Series, Game of Thrones series, and I want to read all of the other ones. I have to say I’m the only person that didn’t like A Darker Shade of Magic though. I had to DNF it. :X
I agree with A Darker Shade of Magic and Shadow and Bone. The world building is amazing and the magic rules that bind them really fleshed out.
I did fantasy this week too! I also listed Throne of Glass and A Darker Shade of Magic – they are definitely a couple of the best fantasy series’ I’ve read yet. The Bone Season and Mistborn are a couple of my friend’s favourite books so I think I’ll have to add them to my TBR. I really want to read Rebel of the Sands because I’ve heard so much about it. I don’t know if I’ll ever read Game of Thrones though, it seems a little heavy (both in terms of content and physically – those books are huge!)
Melina Marchetta? I would totally add the Lumatere Chronicles to the list, ha, but I’m biased, of course. Otherwise, a fabulous selection. I’m excited to see where Samantha Shannon takes her series.
SO MANY AWESOME BOOKS! Of the list, I still need to read The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon, The Winnerβs Curse by Marie Rutkoski, The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson, A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab, The Imposter Queen by Sarah Fine, and Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson.. so clearly I have a lot of reading to do XD YAY for Shadow and Bone being on your list! ;D

I’ve never been a huge fan of fantasy books until recently, so this list will definitely help when going on my next book haul!
My sis-in-law loves the Mistborn series! One of these days when I have time… My TTT
Nice choices! There’s only a few of these I still need to get to. One day…
Rebel of The Sands is one of my new favourite books! I love the Throne of Glass series too and I want to read ADSOM.

Shadow and Bone was sort of my gateway into fantasy, and then I love Mistborn!
Fantastic list! I’ve read the majority of your list, and the ones I haven’t are on my TBR! I planning on starting Rebel of the Sands fairly soon, hopefully! Oh and The Winner’s Kiss, can’t wait for the finale!
I definitely want to read Mistborn at some point – I’m on the Wheel of Time series at the moment (I’d definitely recommend it even though there are 14 books and they’re all 650 pages plus!) and almost at the point where Sanderson takes over so I think whether I like his part of the series will swing it for me as to whether I check out Mistborn!
I’ve only read Rebel of the Sands(and LOVED IT!) but the others are on my TBR and I’m excited to read all of the books on your list (and their perspective series).
Fantasy series I’d recommend are:
The Inkheart trilogy
The Soul Screamers series
The Splintered series
Harry Potter
The Iron Fey series
Glad to see The Bone Season make your list – I’m so excited to pick up the sequel. π
Check out my TTT.
Great post and stunning picture
Sarah J Maas is awesome – we have been lucky enough to meet her and have some signed editions
Rick – There Once Was A Bookseller
I have read 7 of these books already and plan to read two of the others. lol The only one I probably won’t read is Game of Thrones, mostly because I watch the show and idk, I am okay with just doing that for now. π Great list!
Great list! I absolutely LOVE A Game of Thrones! And I really like the Throne of Glass series and Shadow and Bone as well, along with The Impostor Queen. The Winner’s Curse was amazing when I read it but I don’t remember much so I want to reread before I continue the trilogy. I still need to read Kiss of Deception too. One of my favorite fantasy novels is Uprooted; Graceling is a great series too and you should try Dragonswood & In The Time of Dragon Moon, both by Janet Lee Carey. SO good!
Oh my gosh this post akes me super ashamed. I absolutey adore fantasy, but I’ve only read Throne of Glass and Rebel of the Sands! I do have The Bone Season, The Winner’s Curse, and The Imposter Queen, so hopefully I’ll get to all of them soon!
Siiigh. <3 Such a lovely post Kristen π Lots of love for most of these books. Shadow and Bone. <3 The Winner's Curse. <3 A Darker Shade of Magic. <3 And Rebel of the Sands π Gosh, how I love fantasy books too. They are the best π Thank you for sharing your stunning list π
