Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we are highly anticipating. This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait to-read” selection is: World After by Susan Ee
Summary (via Goodreads):
In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world.
When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.
Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.
Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?
Why am I (obsessively) waiting on World After?
If you know me at all you know my immeasurable love of Angelfall. It is one of my favorite books ever and I can’t get enough of Susan Ee’s writing. You can read more about my love in my Angelfall review. I love the cover in all its simplicity. I am afraid we won’t get to see Raffe and Penryn interact as much but I have full faith that what Ee provides us will be amazing in every way.
You can read an excerpt here. I’ve not read it yet (though I am so tempted) because then the wait will be even more painful (if that’s possible).
World After will be available November 19th 2013 by Skyscape

There is still time to squeeze in a rereading! I plan to so I can get traumatized all over again 🙂

For good reason!
I haven’t read Angefall! I know that a lot of people enjoyed Susan Ee’s first book, and are anxiously awaiting the second book (this one), but I was never one of those people :\ I hope you read and enjoy this book soon, K!
Check out my WoW post!
Oh Alyssa, please, please read this now. For me, your non-fictional friend.
I haven’t read Angelfall yet, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. I hope World After will live up to your expectations! (:
Thanks for stopping by my WoW! 😀
Read it soon! It is amazing!
Obviously, great minds like ours think alike. 🙂 Little late responding but I am sooooo freaking excited for this book. I just listened to the audio for Angefall again the other day. It’s my fall-back whenever I don’t know what to listen to or everything else sounds lame. 🙂
